Supporting disadvantaged families | Kosovo

Poverty and the exclusion of disadvantaged groups remain a major problem in Kosovo. Many families do not have enough income to provide for themselves. Local institutions often lack the resources to support marginalised people. The ASB addresses these challenges by helping families start small businesses. It also supports local institutions in improving local social services.

How the ASB is helping in Kosovo

Assistance for families/individuals from particularly vulnerable groups

The ASB supports 20 disadvantaged families in generating income. These families receive start-up grants in kind to start up and develop small businesses.

Support for local, civil and public institutions

The ASB supports employees of eleven public and civil institutions in six municipalities through training measures, for instance, and enables an exchange of experience. In addition, the ASB provides operating equipment, furniture and necessary materials that these institutions may be missing and undertakes minor renovation work on the premises of the facilities. This enables better social services to be provided to the most vulnerable, such as children and pensioners. For example, a school for children with disabilities is to be fitted with an accessible lift.
